"From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free."

Rondo - Oban

The small islet of Dearg Sgeir is marked with a lighthouse and is the site of an exiting and unusual dive. The Rondo was a 2360-ton, steamship, which broke her anchor in a storm, and grounded on to the rocks, in Jan 1935.  After 2 weeks she slipped down the steep reef bow first. Her wreck now lies with her bow in 50 meters and her stern in 9 meters. Her bridge lies on the other side of the lighthouse. The entire interior of the wreck is accessible, and the hull forms a nice cave with the rocky slope. Fascinating marine life all the way down and back up again! The hull is covered in a healthy growth of plumose anemones. Another must do dive.
